About Aroma Suites
A family-run cave hotel on the Fira caldera since 2006
Our Story
How We Got Here
Fanis Kafouros opened Aroma Suites in 2006, turning old cave rooms on the caldera cliffs into 6 suites. The walls are volcanic rock, the ceilings curve on their own, and the thick stone stays cool even in August. Nothing here is imitation.
We're a small team and we know our guests by name. One family first came in 2008 with an 18-year-old daughter. We became friends. Their daughter is now 26, and they still come back almost every summer. We had two friends visit separately and come back as a couple.
Fira's main square is a two-minute walk. The cable car down to the old port, five minutes. The trail to Oia starts at the end of our street. But sit on your veranda and none of that matters. You're looking straight at Nea Kameni, the Aegean stretching out behind it, and the sun dropping behind Thirassia.
What We Care About
What Makes Us Different
Real Cave Rooms
These aren't cave-style rooms with plaster arches. They're actual caves, carved into the cliff, with volcanic rock you can touch and walls that curve with the rock.
A Small Team, Not a Brand
You'll know everyone by name before your second morning. We don't have a script, we have a coffee machine and a good memory. That's it.
Caldera Views, No Car Needed
Right on the cliff edge in central Fira. Volcano view from every room. Everything worth seeing is on foot.
We Handle the Details
Catamaran cruise, wine tour, airport pickup, wedding planning. Tell us what you want and we'll book it. Most guests don't open a browser once they arrive.

Book Direct, Pay Less
Direct bookings get our lowest rate and first pick of rooms. No middleman, no surprises.
