Where to Stay
Last updated: March 2026
A private jacuzzi on a Santorini terrace is the image that sells the island. Warm water, volcanic caldera stretching below, nobody else around. It shows up on every honeymoon Pinterest board and every "best of Santorini" Instagram reel.
A private jacuzzi is the most popular in-room water feature on Santorini, and the most affordable. Unlike full private pools (EUR 500-1,500+/night), jacuzzi suites run EUR 180-400 in peak season and deliver the same privacy, the same caldera views, and year-round usability if the jacuzzi is heated. The catch: not all jacuzzis are heated, and not all "private" means what you'd expect. This guide covers what to look for, what to ask, and where to find the best options by town.
A private jacuzzi on a Santorini terrace is the image that sells the island. Warm water, volcanic caldera stretching below, nobody else around. It shows up on every honeymoon Pinterest board and every "best of Santorini" Instagram reel.
What doesn't show up is how wildly the experience varies depending on what you book. One Santorini hotel jacuzzi might be heated and usable in April. Another gives you a small unheated tub that's only comfortable in July and August. Some are genuinely private. Others sit on a shared terrace where your neighbor is two metres away.

If you're researching where to stay in Santorini, this is one of the most important details to get right. The difference between a great jacuzzi suite and a disappointing one isn't about price. It's about asking the right questions before you book.
Not every listing that says "jacuzzi" delivers the same thing. Here's what you're actually choosing between.
The jacuzzi sits inside your suite, typically built into the cave-style room itself. Water temperature is controlled year-round, usually 35-38C. Wind, rain, and cold evenings don't matter. You can use it at midnight in October and it works exactly as well as it does in July.
Who it's best for: Couples visiting in shoulder season (April, May, September, October), anyone who wants guaranteed comfort regardless of weather, and travelers who value privacy since nobody can see you from a terrace or walkway.
Where to find them: Rare. Most Santorini hotels default to outdoor jacuzzis because the caldera view sells better in photos. Indoor options are more common in cave-style hotels, where the architecture naturally creates enclosed spaces. Aroma Suites' Cave Suite is one of the few that offers a 70-square-metre cave suite with an indoor heated jacuzzi, built directly into the volcanic rock.
Typical price: EUR 200-350/night in peak season.
Your tub sits on a private terrace or balcony, usually with a direct caldera or sea view. Heated means the water stays warm even on cooler evenings. This is the classic Santorini postcard image.
Who it's best for: Couples who want the view while they soak. Works well from May through October. The heating takes the edge off cooler shoulder-season evenings, though you'll still feel the wind on your face and shoulders.
Where to find them: More common than indoor, but still not universal. Ask specifically whether the jacuzzi has a heating system, and what temperature it reaches. The Private Villa at Aroma Suites offers a 50-square-metre suite with an outdoor heated jacuzzi and caldera views.
Typical price: EUR 200-400/night in peak season.
This is the most common type listed on booking platforms, sometimes advertised as a Santorini hotel with private hot tub. It's an outdoor tub with jets, but no water heating. The water temperature matches the ambient air temperature. In July-August, that's fine: 28-32C. In April or October, it's 15-18C, which is a cold bath.
Who it's best for: Summer-only visitors who want the terrace tub experience without paying the premium for heated options. Make sure you're visiting between mid-June and mid-September.
Where to find them: Widely available across all Santorini towns. Many mid-range properties include these. They're the reason "jacuzzi suite" listings can look affordable.
Typical price: EUR 120-250/night in peak season.
Some listings blur the line between plunge pools and jacuzzis. If it's deeper than 60cm and larger than 3 square metres, it's closer to a plunge pool. These sometimes have jets, sometimes don't. Check the listing photos carefully.
For a full breakdown of pool types, see our Santorini private pool hotels guide.
Santorini's caldera stretches across several towns on the western cliffs. Where you stay determines what you'll pay and what views you'll get. Here's an honest breakdown.
Oia dominates Santorini's luxury market. Jacuzzi suites here come with the iconic blue-dome backdrop and the most photographed sunset on the island. You'll pay for it.
What to expect: EUR 400-1,000+ per night in peak season. Most are outdoor jacuzzis (heated and unheated). Properties like Andronis Boutique Hotel, Katikies, and Canaves Oia offer jacuzzi suites, but availability is limited and prices climb fast during July and August. For the full Oia picture, see our Santorini luxury hotels guide.
The trade-off: Oia is the most expensive town on Santorini by a wide margin. It's also the most crowded from 4pm to 9pm during peak season, when day-trippers and cruise passengers fill the narrow streets. Beautiful, but not the quiet escape most couples imagine. Read our honest Oia guide before deciding.
Fira sits at the center of the island with the same caldera views as Oia, plus walkable access to restaurants, shops, nightlife, and the main bus station. Jacuzzi suites here cost 40-60% less than equivalent options in Oia.
What to expect: EUR 180-400 per night in peak season. You'll find both indoor and outdoor heated jacuzzis at boutique properties along the caldera cliff. Aroma Suites offers both options: a Cave Suite with indoor heated jacuzzi (70 square metres, built into the rock) and a Private Villa with outdoor heated jacuzzi (50 square metres, caldera view terrace). Our sister property Uma Ray Suites is also in Fira, with a more modern Cycladic design and suites featuring private outdoor jacuzzis. Athina Luxury Suites and Cosmopolitan Suites also offer jacuzzi options in Fira.
Why Fira works: You're 5 minutes from restaurants. You can walk to the cable car, the caldera path, and the bus station. You don't need a car or a taxi to do anything. If caldera views matter to you (and they should), Fira delivers them at a fraction of Oia's prices. See our Fira guide for the full picture.
Imerovigli sits between Fira and Oia on the caldera rim. It's called the "Balcony of the Aegean" because it's the highest point on the caldera, with arguably the most dramatic views. It's quiet, sometimes too quiet, with only a handful of restaurants.
What to expect: EUR 300-700 per night in peak season. Properties like Grace Hotel and Astra Suites offer jacuzzi suites with stunning views. Most are outdoor, some heated. The premium over Fira is 30-50%.
The trade-off: Limited dining (5-6 restaurants), no nightlife, no direct bus stop. You're 35-45 minutes walk from Fira, or a EUR 10-15 taxi. Beautiful for a retreat, but isolating if you want to explore. See our Imerovigli guide for an honest assessment.
Firostefani sits between Fira and Imerovigli, a 10-15 minute walk from Fira's center. Quieter than Fira, more connected than Imerovigli. A handful of boutique properties offer jacuzzi suites.
What to expect: EUR 200-500 per night in peak season. Options include Mill Houses Firostefani and a few smaller boutique hotels along the caldera path.
| Town | Jacuzzi Type | Heated? | Price Range (Peak) | Caldera View? | Walkable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oia | Mostly outdoor | Mixed | EUR 400-1,000+ | Yes | To Oia center only |
| Fira | Indoor + outdoor | Yes (both) | EUR 180-400 | Yes | To everything |
| Imerovigli | Mostly outdoor | Some | EUR 300-700 | Yes, dramatic | Limited |
| Firostefani | Mostly outdoor | Some | EUR 200-500 | Yes | To Fira 10-15 min |
| Beach areas | Outdoor | Rarely | EUR 100-250 | No | To beach only |
This is the question most travelers don't think about until they're already on the island. Both have genuine advantages.
Shoulder season (April, May, September, October). Santorini evenings can drop to 14-18C, and the Meltemi wind makes it feel colder. An outdoor jacuzzi on a windy April evening isn't the romantic experience you're picturing. An indoor heated jacuzzi at 37C, sheltered in a cave-style room, works exactly as advertised.
Privacy. Indoor options are completely enclosed. No neighbor glancing over from the next terrace, no walkway above where strangers can see you. For honeymooners and couples celebrating something special, this matters.
Weather independence. Rain, wind, and unexpected cold snaps don't affect an indoor setup at all. If your entire trip is three nights and one evening is ruined by weather, that's a third of your soak time gone.
The view. There's no way around this. Soaking in warm water while watching the sun set over the caldera is a one-of-a-kind Santorini experience. Indoor setups trade the view for comfort.
Summer evenings (June through August). When it's 28-30C outside with calm winds, an outdoor heated jacuzzi is perfect. The air is warm, the water is warm, and the caldera is right there.
Photography. The outdoor terrace setup with the caldera behind it is the image that ends up on Instagram. Indoor spaces are atmospheric in a different way, cave-lit and intimate, but they don't produce the same kind of photo.
If you're visiting during peak summer and weather isn't a concern, outdoor heated is the obvious choice. If you're visiting in shoulder season, or if guaranteed comfort matters more than the terrace photo, indoor heated is the better bet. If your trip spans the shoulder-to-peak transition (late May, early June), consider booking a few nights of each.
At Aroma Suites, you can experience both: the Cave Suite with its indoor heated jacuzzi for sheltered evenings, and the Private Villa with its outdoor heated jacuzzi for sunset sessions. For a more contemporary aesthetic with the same heated-jacuzzi advantage, our sister hotel Uma Ray Suites sits a few minutes away in Fira.
Hotels don't always volunteer this information. Ask directly.
1. Is the jacuzzi heated, and to what temperature? "Heated" should mean a thermostat-controlled system that maintains 35-38C regardless of outside temperature. Some properties heat the water using solar panels, which means it's warm in summer but lukewarm (or cold) in spring and autumn.
2. What are the exact dimensions? A "jacuzzi" can mean anything from a deep bathtub with two jets to a 2x2 metre proper hot tub. Ask for the length, width, and depth. Anything under 1.5 metres across is a bathtub. Two people need at least 1.5x1.5 metres to sit comfortably.
3. Is it actually private? "Private" should mean no other guests can see or access it. Check for shared terraces, overlooking balconies, and public walkways above. Ask the hotel directly: "Can anyone else see the area?"
4. Indoor or outdoor? If the listing doesn't specify, assume outdoor. Indoor jacuzzis are a selling point that hotels always highlight.
5. How often is the water maintained? Hygiene standards vary. Good properties clean and treat the water daily. Ask about their maintenance schedule, especially between guest turnovers.
Book shoulder season for heated jacuzzi value. May, early June, September, and early October offer lower prices (often 30-50% off peak rates), warm-enough weather for outdoor terraces, and jacuzzi suites that actually get used since heated options keep the experience comfortable. Santorini's climate makes shoulder season ideal: warm days, cool evenings, and far fewer crowds.
Book direct for extras. Many boutique hotels offer perks for direct bookings that you won't get through Booking.com or Expedia. At Aroma Suites, direct bookings include a best-price guarantee, complimentary wine for stays of 3+ nights, and a free airport transfer for stays of 4+ nights. Those extras add up to EUR 50-100+ in saved value.
Don't assume "spa" means jacuzzi in your room. Many listings mention "spa facilities." This usually means a shared spa area, not a private in-room jacuzzi. Read the room description carefully.
Check the room size. A 25-square-metre room with a jacuzzi crammed into it feels nothing like a 70-square-metre suite where the jacuzzi has its own space. Room size is listed in the booking details.
Read the fine print on "complimentary use." Some hotels charge extra for heating, filling, or using the tub outside specific hours. Confirm in writing that there are no additional charges.
We wrote a whole guide to Santorini private pool hotels, and the honest conclusion was this: most couples don't need a full private pool.
Here's the math. A private pool villa in Santorini runs EUR 500-1,500+ per night in peak season. A heated jacuzzi suite runs EUR 180-400. Over a 5-night stay, that's a difference of EUR 1,500-5,500.
What do you lose? You can't swim laps. That's genuinely it. The privacy is the same. The caldera views are the same. The experience of soaking in warm water on your own terrace is the same.
What do you gain with the savings? A private catamaran cruise (EUR 150-250), a wine tasting tour of three Santorini wineries, a couples' photoshoot, and several caldera-view dinners. Or you can put those savings toward upgrading to a larger suite or extending your stay by a night or two.
For most honeymooners and couples, the jacuzzi suite is the smarter booking.
Not always. Many outdoor jacuzzis only operate from May to October, and some are unheated (just jet tubs). If year-round heated water matters to you, look for properties that specifically state "heated jacuzzi" with a thermostat system. Indoor heated jacuzzis, like the one in Aroma Suites' Cave Suite, work year-round regardless of weather.
Size and depth. A typical unit is 1.2-2 metres across with integrated jets and heated water. A plunge pool is 2-4 metres across, deeper, and designed for cooling off rather than soaking. Plunge pools sometimes have jets but rarely have heating. For a detailed comparison, see our private pool hotels guide.
Ask the hotel before booking. "Private" should mean only guests in your specific room have access, and that no one can see the area from neighboring rooms, terraces, or walkways. Some properties use "private" loosely, meaning it's a shared area that feels secluded. Indoor options offer the most complete privacy.
Prices depend on town, season, and jacuzzi type. Budget EUR 120-250/night for an unheated outdoor jacuzzi in beach areas, EUR 180-400/night for a heated jacuzzi suite in Fira or Firostefani, EUR 300-700/night in Imerovigli, and EUR 400-1,000+/night in Oia. Shoulder season (May, September, October) drops prices by 30-50%.
You don't "need" one, but it's one of the most memorable parts of a Santorini stay. Even in summer, a heated jacuzzi at sunset on your private terrace is a different experience from sitting by a shared pool. If you're celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, a private jacuzzi turns a hotel room into an experience. See our honeymoon planning guide for more on making the trip special.
Fira offers the best value for jacuzzi suites, with prices 40-60% lower than Oia for comparable views and amenities. Fira is also more central, with walkable restaurants, nightlife, and transport connections. Oia is more photogenic and more famous, but significantly more expensive and more crowded during peak hours. For a detailed comparison, see our Fira vs Oia guide.
